NQRNews for 8 Mar: Putin Invasion Consequence, Eastern European Refugee’s

Dear NQRNews Readers,

Ukrainians are being offered the opportunity to flee via corridors into Russia (article below). A crisis that has created over 1.5 Million refugee’s. They are better off trying to make it to the west than the route to Russia that Putin has approved. Allowing civilians to leave a war zone is unacceptable to Putin.

After two weeks of being implored by the US population, Biden has decided to act. Must be the polls indicated it was what the people want. Finally, the US announced they will no longer buy Russian oil:

This is a two-edged sword. First, the US was providing support to Russia by purchasing oil and other petroleum products ($75 million/day), and diplomatic, military. and economic aid to the Ukraine. This will cost the western nations billions. It also will cost Putin billions. This will contribute to drive Putin to China and increase Russian aggression in the Ukraine.

If you are a student of history, you may remember the US economically strangled Japan in 1941. An oil embargo was put in place to prevent Japan from receiving oil and other products. This led to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and subsequently the entry of the US into World War II. I see many similarities to event in the late ‘30s and early ‘40s of the 20th century. Wars are about money. I can envision Putin miscalculating as he gets pushed further into a corner because he is losing billions. Perhaps secondary or tertiary effects will result in Russia lashing out. Rumors of Putin’s health are being reported. He will probably make an appearance soon. We can only hope that the invasion of Ukraine remains contained to just Ukraine. Ukraine is a global provider of the worlds grain. The invasion is preventing this food from getting to the people. This will have a ripple effect around the world.

Recent power outages in Taiwan raised concerns that China was using cyber-attacks to test Taiwan’s cyber security. It is being reported that the power outages were from routing maintenance negligence. Elimination of power and communications are two things that indicate a country may be under attack. Of note is the attacks in Ukraine destroyed cell towers and hurt not only Ukrainians, but the Russian invaders as well.

As the world focused on Ukraine defense, remember to look around the globe at things that are not making news that should be. I’ll try to keep you in the loop. Stay safe, gang.
