Here are news highlights at NQRNews for 18 June, 2021. Today the USA celebrates Juneteenth for the first time. The 19th of June is ‘Juneteenth’, or Emancipation Day. Juneteenth’s commemoration is on the anniversary date of the June 19, 1865, announcement of General Order No. 3 by Union Army general Gordon Granger, proclaiming freedom for slaves in Texas. Texas led the way in southern Emancipation. There is a theme of Texas and Freedom.
