Dear www.notquiterightnews.com Readers,
Some of you may remember the movie, “A Few Good Men”. In that movie Jack Nicholson played the part of Colonel Nathan R. Jessup. The Commander of the base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. It still amazes me to this day that Nicholson did not win the Academy Award for best supporting actor for that role. The winner was Gene Hackman for his part as Little Bill Daggett in “The Unforgiven”. A film that was one of Eastwood’s best. But come on, Man! Little Bill Daggett was no Nathan R. Jessup!
Nicholson’s character is spectacular as the antagonist to Tom Cruise’s heroic lawyer, Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee. In the film, when Kaffee cross examines Jessup, Nicholson provides one of the most iconic testimonials ever filmed. Here at NQRNews, we may use this scene as, with some updated dialogue to express an opinion. This Rob Reiner film, written by Aaron Sorkin was produced by Castle Rock Entertainment. It was made on a $40 million budget and it grossed over $243. The film won 4 Academy Awards including best picture. I highly recommend this film is you have not seen. Amazing acting!
Here is a link to the spectacular cross examination scene :
Hollywood was at it’s peak in the 1990’s, and 1992 was exceptional. “A Few Good Men” wasn’t nominated for Best Picture. “Silence of the Lambs” won best picture and another film, “Bugsy” had 10 nominations. The casting of “A Few Good Men” was film perfection. Fast forward to 2021 and the politization of film making is costing the industry popularity and financially.
Getting back to Colonel Jessup, I doubt the makers of “A Few Good Men” appreciate the use of Colonel Jessup across the internet to meme (Def: a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by internet users) political opinions they disagree with.
Remember, this is an opinion. If Colonel Jessup were to be asked about COVID-19, he might say something like this:
“You can’t handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has COVID, and that COVID has to be reported on by politicians that need power. Who’s gonna do it? Psaki? You, Dr. Fauci? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom! You weep for the Cult of Woke (CoW) and you curse the MAGA voters. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that COVID, while tragic, probably is survivable. And Trumps existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saved lives! You don’t want the truth, because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want Ivermectin on that wall! You need HCQ on that wall! We use words like “prophylactic”, “scamdemic”, “Wuhan”. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent living with Corona Viruses. You use them as a punchline! I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to the CoW who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very free speech that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said, “Thank you,” and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a loudspeaker, and stand a post. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

The purpose of this meme may be repeated here at www.notquiterightnews.com . “A Few Good Men” is one of the greatest films ever made and is easily in my Top 10 list. I may use this meme again as it is an incredible speech. I would love to talk to Aaron Sorkin about this film. (I hope I don’t get sued).
COVID-19 is still out there. It is incredibly dangerous to some people with pre-existing conditions, but it is survivable. Respect the Virus but don’t get obsessed with it. We all still have lives to live. The virus is deadly enough for without pushing violent extremism over masks or six feet of social distancing.
NQRNews will continue to provide global updates and perspectives on COVID. Stay safe my friends.
